From the number of anonymous comments I've received, (and seen elsewhere), it's clear that many of you still think I'm nothing more than a figment of Douglas's imagination. Apparently I just don't ring true, so this is something for you all to get your heads around.
No one can deny Douglas's ability as a writer; Vanessa Gebbie chose to work closely with him for over a year, Jane Smith, Nik Perring, and Jonathan Pinnock, (among others), have all praised his writing abilities, even Doug Cheadle has said he's a good writer, but surely what makes a good writer is his/her ability to create stories and characters that are believable to the reader. There's no doubt that Douglas does have a talent for creating believable characters. As writers, you all probably feel you have the same talent, so if I was your creation, what things about me would you have changed to make me more believable; a different name, a different job, a different reason for commenting, perhaps you'd have given me an education, or perhaps all of the above and more? So simple really isn't it? Now ask yourself, why didn't Douglas do that, why, despite his acknowledged talent as a writer, has he then, supposedly, created a fictional character that is totally unbelievable?
I shall tell you why I'm unbelievable to you, because I'm REAL, and real people don't necessarily follow the same rules you would use to create your own fictional characters.
If I'm unbelievable as a person, then that's not the fault of Douglas, because if he was my creator, I'm pretty sure with his writing talent, he would have at least made me someone that you could all believe in.
I know it is said that artists think with their emotions, but just for once, try using logic and reasoning!

Funny how Douglas Bruton asked you on his blog today why you're doing this. Especially as you haven't authorised my message in which I asked the same question.
ReplyDeleteIt's almost like he knows...
If I've answered your question on Douglas's blog, and not here, then I apologize, but the question has at least been answered; perhaps today I just couldn't be arsed repeating myself.
ReplyDeleteIn the real world I have a life, and as much as I would like to chat all day, I have real work to do.
Thank you for your input; your other comments will be addressed when I have time.
